Blouson Cherry by Dessine moi un Patron

The blouson Cherry from the label Dessin moi un Patron conquered me in the sturm. A single glance and I was blown away by this pattern. And believe me, that doesn’t happen to me too often anymore. Surely it was the cool oversize style of the jacket. But especially I liked the collar, where the lining material comes out, as well as the extra long sleeves, where the lining also shines out cheekily.

Und glaubt mir, das geschieht mir nicht mehr allzu oft. Sicherlich lag es am coolen oversize Stil der Jacke. Doch insbesondere hat es mir der Kragen angetan, bei dem der Futterstoff zum Vorschein kommt, wie auch die überlangen Ärmeln bei dem ebenfalls frech das Futter hervor blitzt.

If you are wondering about the not quite autumnal colouring: The planning of the jacket was a few months ago. It was spring when I had the image of a blue and white striped jacket combined with summer flowers in mind. The main reason why I postponed the project week after week was that I was afraid that the Cherry blouson would be difficult to sew. But it wasn’t the case at all: the sewing process was surprisingly fast and simple. And the fact that the manual is only available in French wasn’t really a hurdle either. And that was certainly not due to my language skills. They don’t go beyond a school French.

Falls ihr euch über die nicht ganz herbstliche Farbgebung wundert: Die Planung der Jacke liegt einige Monate zurück. Es war Frühling als ich das Bild einer blau-weiss gestreiften Jacke, kombiniert mit sommerlichen Blumen vor Augen hatte. Der Hauptgrund weshalb ich das Projekt dann Woche um Woche vor mich hin schob, war, dass ich Befürchtungen hatte, der Cherry Blouson sei schwierig zu nähen. War aber überhaupt nicht der Fall: Vielmehr ging der Näh-Prozess überraschend schnell und einfach von Statten. Und auch die Tatsache, dass die Anleitung nur in Französisch daher kommt, war nicht wirklich eine Hürde. Und das lag sicherlich nicht an meinen Sprachfähigkeiten. Die gehen nämlich nicht über ein Schulfranzösisch hinaus.

The main fabric of my Blouson Cherry is a light denim fabric. The lining is made of Les Fleurs cotton fabric by Rifle Paper Fabric. For the sleeves, however, I used rayon fabric from the same Rifle Paper collection. It was really hard for me to cut this fabric; I saved it for a long time. In order to pick up the colour scheme of the lining again, I sewed a glitter piping in copper into the back area as well as into the hood.

Als Hauptstoff meines Blouson Cherry habe ich mich für einen leichten Jeans-Stoff entschieden. Das Futter ist aus Les Fleurs Baumwollstoff von Rifle Paper Fabric. Bei den Ärmeln habe ich jedoch Viskosestoff aus derselben Kollektion verwendet. Es ist mir echt schwer gefallen den Stoff anzuschneiden; ich habe ihn auch lange gehütet. Um das Farbschema des Futterstoffes nochmals aufzugreifen habe ich im Rückenbereich, sowie bei der Kapuze eine Glitzerpaspel in Kupfer eingenäht.

In retrospect I have to say that the choice of my main fabric is not entirely happy. Jeans is listed as a suitable type of fabric in the cut and I have also used a rather light denim fabric. Nevertheless, I find the fabric too heavy and too bulky. Next time I would choose a lighter fabric with a softer fall, maybe a material mix with a rayon content.

Im Nachhinein muss ich sagen, dass die Wahl meines Hauptstoffes nicht ganz glücklich ist. Jeans wird zwar im Schnitt als passende Stoffart aufgeführt und ich habe auch einen eher leichten Jeansstoff verwendet. Trotzdem finde ich der Stoff fällt zu schwer und trägt zu sehr auf. Ich würde mich bei einem nächsten Mal für einen leichtern Stoff entscheiden mit weicherem Fall. Vielleicht für einen Materialmix mit einem Viskose Anteil.

For the buttons I used bronze coloured anorak press buttons. The colours match the lining perfectly. However, I find them a bit too small. The oversized design of the jacket makes them almost disappear. I think bigger buttons would give the jacket a better balance.

Bei den Knöpfen habe ich bronzefarbene Anorak-Druckknöpfe verwendet. Farblich passen sie perfekt zum Futterstoff. Allerdings finde ich sie etwas zu klein. Der Oversized Schnitt der Jacke lässt sie fast verschwinden. Ich finde grössere Knöpfe würden der Jacke ein besseres Gleichgewicht geben.

Nevertheless, I like the jacket a lot. Despite its weight it is very comfortable and stylish! If you would like to sew the pattern as well, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
