Syracuse, you impressed me twice

Syracuse impressed me twice: I was incredibly fascinated by the city when I visited it a few years ago. At that time I was in Sicily for seven months due to a social internship. It was clear that I had to visit such a historic place like Siracusa. Just as I was enthusiastic about the city, so was I when I first saw the Syracuse blouse by Anne Kerdilès Couture.

Syracuse hat es mir gleich doppelt angetan: Die Stadt hat mich unglaublich fasziniert, als ich sie vor einigen Jahren besuchte. Ich weilte damals für sieben Monate aufgrund eines Sozialpraktikums auf Sizilien. Es war klar, dass ich diesem geschichtsträchtigen Ort einen Besuch abstatten musste. Doch genau so wie mich die Stadt begeisterte, so war ich auch von der Bluse Syracuse von Anne Kerdilès Couture hin und weg, als ich sie zum ersten Mal sah. 

I especially liked the neckline and the cute flutter sleeves of the pattern. But also the back section with a possible button placket caught my eye right away.

Insbesondere mochte ich den Ausschnitt und die süssen Flatterärmelchen des Schnittes. Aber auch die Rückenpartie mit einer möglichen Knopfleiste fiel mir gleich ins Auge. 

Since I bought a new sewing machine with automatic buttonhole program three years ago, I love sewing buttonholes. Actually, I don’t have much more to do than watch the machine sew them…

Seit ich vor drei Jahren eine neue Nähmaschine mit Knopflochautomatik gekauft habe, liebe ich es Knopflöcher zu nähen. Wobei ich da eigentlich gar nicht mehr viel zu tun habe als zu zuschauen, wie sie genäht werden…

I have chosen a viscose fabric for the blouse so that the flutter sleeves fall beautifully. As for my blouse from last week, I have chosen a fabric from Atelier Brunette for this one. I think the rayon brings out the uniqueness of the pattern.

Damit die Flatterärmel schön fallen, habe ich für die Bluse einen Viskosestoff gewählt. Wie schon bei meiner Bluse von letzter Woche habe ich einen Stoff von Atelier Brunette gewählt. Ich finde die Viskose bringt die Besonderheiten des Schnittes hervorragend zur Geltung. 

However, I am always tempted to adjust the neckline. Thanks to the flowing fabric I have the feeling that my blouse is threatening to slip off my shoulders. Not that it could. The neckline isn’t that big. Probably the blouse may be a bit too big. It was the first time I sewed a pattern of this brand, which is why I was uncertain about the size.

Allerdings bin ich immer ein wenig am Ausschnitt am Herum zupfen. Aufgrund des fliessenden Stoffes habe ich das Gefühl die Bluse drohe mir von den Schultern zu rutschten. Nicht das sie das könnte. So gross ist der Ausschnitt auch wieder nicht. Möglicherweise ist die Bluse auch einen Tick zu gross. Ich habe noch nie einen Schnitt von diesem Label genäht und war deswegen etwas unsicher welche Grösse ich nähen sollte.

Nevertheless, the version with a V-neck is my favourite. For next summer I could well imagine a version with a round neck. But next I’ll start sewing garments for fall. I can’t wait to show you my first piece for the cooler season on Thursday.

Trotzdem ist die Variante mit V-Ausschnitt mein Favorit. Für nächsten Sommer könnte ich mir aber gut eine Version mit Rundausschnitt vorstellen. Doch zuerst mache ich mich mal hinter die ersten Herbstkleider. Ich mag es kaum erwarten euch am Donnerstag mein erstes Werk für die kommenden kühleren Tage zu zeigen…
