My first blog post in 2019! I am happy that you’re here and also in the new year with me on my sewing universe! During the last weeks it was quiet here on the blog. But in the background I worked eagerly…

…because I’m seized by blouse fever! In the past weeks I have sewn three blouses and am now already at the fourth.  Today I will present to you my Christmas blouse called Liseron, which has accompanied me during the past holidays in the circle of my family.

The pattern comes from the label Atelier Scämmit of the French designer Johanna. I sewed her Stockholm blouse some time ago and her Barcelona blouse last summer. Both times I was enthusiastic about the excellent design and instructions. As you can guess, the patterns and instructions are in French, only in French. But Johanna has created a video tutorial for each pattern and with this help you can sew the patterns even with little language knowledge.

Classic shirt blouses don’t necessarily match my style. But Liseron has me with the round, ruffled collar simply done. In addition, the pattern seemed to be made for the cotton fabric from the “Fusion Trinkens Collection” by Art Gallery, which Adlico Textile provided to me. Basically viscose would be my first choice for blouses, but with this pattern I preferred a slightly firmer fabric.

I like that Liseron combines a androgynous design with feminine details. In addition to the collar, the cuffs can also be sewn with frills.

I sewed the pattern without altering it, using my usual trick and choosing a size bigger on the back than on the front to make room for my wide back. I think the blouse fits perfectly. Only the width in the belly area takes a little getting used to, but after the festive feasts behind me it is very practical.

Blouses are rather elaborate projects and this was it in particular. But I love it when I can learn something new and find it highly meditative when I am forced to work slowly and accurately. How are you doing? Do you prefer faster or more complex sewing projects?

Happy Sewing
