What kind of fabric do you prefer to wear in summer? I definitely have Tencel on the podium this year. This natural fibre is just as comfortable to wear and sews just as well. I’ve already told you about it here.
Already when I saw the fabrics online for the first time, the idea came to me: Colorblocking! That should look incredibly cool with these plain Tencel fabrics! When Adlico Textile asked me if I wanted to sew Meet Milk Tencel, I was in heaven.
Shortly afterwards, a suitable pattern came to mind, which I had already noted on my inner to-sew list: The Laurier Top by Orageuse Patterns! With its split V-neckline, it’s perfect for playing with colours.
I love the modern, sporty and yet feminine look of the blouse. It is relatively undemanding when it comes to sewing. The only challenge is to get the V-point right. So it’s worth taking your time and sewing accurately.
Of course I had to increase the challenge a bit and sewed in a piping between the front and back part of the V-neckline. I think the shirt immensely wins. But it’s also mean to sew this point with piping. I tried my best, but I couldn’t get it 100% perfect.
The back also has a V-neckline, but not quite as deep as on the front. At the shoulder the front and back overlap slightly.
For once I didn’t sew a muslin of this blouse. Big mistake! I chose the wrong size: The blouse almost fell out like a tent…
feel like opening everything, I gave the front two diagonal darts. I sewed 1cm deep darts and made 4cm fabric disappear on the front. Now I really like the fit. And I think these diagonal seams have something. By the way, I left the back as it was; my back is a lot wider than my front and therefore I didn’t find any adjustments necessary.
I’d say end well all good! I wish you
Happy Sewing
