I don’t know how long I’ve been a fan of them. According to the mountains of Cotton + Steel fabrics in my house it must be an eternity. When I heard that the designers were now also producing jersey, I listened attentively. And when Hello Heidi Fabrics asked me if I wanted to sew a design example of the jersey collection of Cotton + Steel… … well, you guess you can imagine how happy they made me with it.
My daughter chose the Jersey Moonrise Posy Pearl and I sewed it to a Wanda dress. The pattern of the whispered cut had been resting on the computer for a while and was waiting for its destination. I changed the dress a bit and gave it a little kick by sewing ruffles on the shoulders.
To complete the outfit, I sewed leggings and a jacket from Cord Nicky in Navy. Since the fabric is a bit thicker, it warms wonderfully and is perfect for wearing in cooler temperatures.
For the Cardigan I used one of my favourite patterns: The Kathy Cardigan from Fabelwald. As an eye-catcher I additionally sewed in pink piping.
As it happens, I had buttons in my wardrobe that perfectly matched the colour of the jersey. I think the buttons take up the purple tone of the dress beautifully.
For years I have been sewing leggings for my little girl according to the pattern of Minikrea; after several bad investments I came across them and finally we have perfectly fitting leggings!
If you want to make your daughter (or you) happy as well, jump over to Hello Heidi Fabrics. The Cotton + Steel fabrics are a feast for the eyes. So enjoy the pretty sight together and fill your baskets.
Happy Sewing
