A pool party! My daydream at the moment while I’m doing my daily To Do’s sweating. You won’t believe it, but Hello Heidi actually made this dream come true: with her summer fabric collection Pool!
But pool, these are not just simple stripes, pool, these are stripes deluxe! Because at Pool, the thin, 5mm wide stripes were knitted from a viscose bright yarn, while the wide stripes were made from organic cotton yarns. The viscose luster yarn gives the fabric a noble shimmer and reminds of a water surface due to the slight wave effect.
Did I mention the stripes are blue? And not only in one, but in five different shades of blue:I have Tropico -Azzuro sewn to a Osiris maritime shirt by I am Patterns. The outfit is rounded off with Romero shorts by Pauline Alice.
Since the pool jersey is rather light and therefore less stable than the cotton jersey, I sewed the shirt a lot tighter. I guess it’s meant to be oversized, but with this flowing fabric I found a narrower line more beautiful.
For the shorts I sewed Robert Kaufman Twill Denim, which was also provided to me by Hello Heidi. I think the fabric is perfect for a pants project: It falls softly and still has the required stand.
Of course, the matching buttons should not be missing in a maritime outfit. I used the same anchor buttons for shirt and trousers in different sizes.
Do you also want to wear such a cool striped shirt? Then grab the great pool jersey before it’s completely sold out!
Happy Sewing
