Glitter is part of Advent, like ice cream is of summer. That’s probably what Hello Heidi thought when they launched their glitter glamour fabric collection called “Loom” this week.
I had the honor of sewing the jacquard fabric in gold powder. Pattern wise I found the right counterpart in “I am Zebre” by I AM Patterns. As you can see, I rounded off the modern pattern design with romantic details.
I found THE buttons in my fund; heirlooms of grandmother Ida. Don’t they just go perfectly with the fabric? What I particularly like about this picture is that you get an idea of how the fabric glitters.
The icing on the cake for me with this sweater is the frill at the neckline. To do so, I simply sewed a ruffle ribbon on the seam allowance of the cuff.
I made a few small changes to the pattern. I lengthened the Zebre sweater by 6 cm because it seemed a bit short to me. I also lengthened the sleeves by 6 cm because I didn’t like the long cuffs. Instead I cut the cuff to the same width as the hem cuff. So I find the sweater really elegant.
A note about the pattern: The Zebre Sweater should be oversized, but it does this for my taste a bit too exaggerated. I took the sides, like the armholes and sleeves by a few centimeters, until the width was right for me. For a next Zebre sweater I would go on a number smaller.
If powder isn’t quite your shade now, I have some good news: Loom Jacquard is available in 5 different shades, one more beautiful than the other: From Silver-Carbon-Mélange, Gold-Blue Navy , Rosegold-Bordeaux, Cooper-Powder to Gold-Powder. A perfect matching fabric for each of you. So there’s nothing standing in the way of your Christmas outfit.
Happy Sewing
